Research grants for doctoral and Master’s level students

The Network for Research on Multiculturalism and Societal Interaction (MCnet) offers research grants to (1) doctoral students at the University of Turku; (2) students in Master’s studies affiliated with the University of Turku, who are in the process of finalizing their research project.

Grants must be used for the purpose of supporting research devoted to exploring multicultural topics. The level of funding is 1626€/month for doctoral students and they can be applied from one to three months maximum. It is intended to permit recipients to focus on full-time research. The level of funding is 500 € for Master’s level students (one-time payment).

Applications should contain the following elements:

(1) a brief cover letter stating the purpose of the request and contact information, including an e-mail address;

(2) a concise research plan of no more than 5 pages (3 pages for Master’s level students) that outlines the research design (topic, methodology, current stage of research, timetable and eventual contributions);

(3) a short CV of no more than 2 pages; and

(4) the application form. Applications can be made in either English or Finnish. If the application is made in Finnish, a short English language summary of the research plan is required.

It is expected that the successful applicants use the grant between January 1st 2015 and July 31st 2015. Successful applicants are required to provide a report on their activity and expenses within one month of expending the funds, no later than 30 August 2015.
